Shirley Bloomfield, Chief Executive Officer, NTCA

became NTCA's chief executive officer on July 1, 2010. Bloomfield brings her strength as an advocate for rural telecommunications and a unique combination of rural telecom knowledge, expertise in building alliances and management capabilities to the position. With 23 years in telecommunications, Bloomfield began her career on Capitol Hill as a staff aide to Congressman David Obey. She went on to serve as a congressional aide on the House Budget Committee. She landed at NTCA as a lobbyist in 1986 and advanced her career leaving NTCA in 2007 as the vice president of government affairs and association services overseeing government affairs, membership, education, communications, meetings and the foundation. Bloomfield went on to expand the scope of her credentials by working for major telecommunications companies including serving as senior vice president of federal relations for Qwest and vice president of federal relations for Verizon. Bloomfield received her master's degree in public administration from American University and her Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and urban studies from Northwestern University. She currently serves as a board member of GlobalWin, an organization of women leaders in the high-tech industry.


Maria Dillard, Vice President, U-verse and Video Products, AT&T

Maria Dillard, Vice President, U-verse and Video Products, is currently responsible for AT&T U-verse TV, which is part of the company's suite of integrated TV, Internet and voice services delivered over its advanced fiber network. AT&T passes approximately 30 million living units as part of its network deployment, using fiber-to-the-node (FTTN) and fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) technologies.

Ms. Dillard is responsible for AT&T's video strategy and product development, including U-verse TV, U-verse Mobile, and U-verse.com multi-screen programming, interactive apps and integration across the TV, smartphone, PC, and tablet devices, as well as the co-branded AT&T | DIRECTV service that AT&T also sells.

Prior to this role, Ms. Dillard was Assistant Vice President, Product Realization & Vendor Management. In this role she was responsible for end-to-end Product Development for U-verse products and other in-home products. Ms. Dillard also served as Vice President, Local Operations in Dallas where she managed the Local Service Centers and Local Operations Centers for all Competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLEC) pre-ordering, ordering and billing functions in the previous 5 states in Southwestern Bell territory.

Ms. Dillard began her career with Southwestern Bell in 1985 and held numerous positions in the Marketing, Network and Industry Markets organizations throughout Missouri and Texas.

A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Maria earned a Bachelor's degree from Lindenwood College in Missouri. Maria and her husband of 21 years, Steven, have two wonderful children.


Jeff Gardner, President & CEO, Windstream

Jeff Gardner is president and chief executive officer for Windstream. Gardner has worked in the telecommunications industry for more than 25 years and is executing a focused strategy to transform Windstream and create value for shareholders. Windstream has completed nine acquisitions since its 2006 spinoff from Alltel Corp., adding more than $4 billion in revenue and creating approximately $300 million in operating and capital synergies. The company completed four acquisitions in 2010 totaling $2.2 billion. In 2011, Windstream acquired PAETEC, a leading communications firm for $2.3 billion. Gardner was appointed to the position in December 2005. He previously served as executive vice president and chief financial officer of Alltel Corp. He joined Alltel in 1998 when the company merged with 360° Communications. Gardner is a member of the Business Roundtable, an association of chief executive officers of leading U.S. companies. He also is chairman of the United States Telecom Association.


Adi Kishore, Senior Analyst, Heavy Reading

Kishore has 12 years' experience in consumer media. His coverage areas at Heavy Reading include digital media applications and services and their distribution over broadband networks. Prior to Heavy Reading, Kishore was the Director of Global Media and Entertainment at the Yankee Group. He was responsible for managing and coordinating media research across Yankee Group analyst teams in North America, Europe, and Asia. Kishore began his career in television news, then spent three years in advertising, working with a range of leading consumer brands, including Nestle, Samsung, and McDonald's. He also developed a number of digital video and Web projects for various New England broadcast stations and independent producers, including interactive video projects with the PBS network series Frontline. Kishore holds a B.A. in economics from Delhi University, India, and an M.A. in media from Emerson College. He is based in the U.K.


Robert Mudge, President - Consumer and Mass Business, Verizon Communications, Inc.

Under Bob's leadership Verizon has introduced a new era of competition and consumer choice in the Internet and entertainment services area, having deployed FiOS, Verizon's fiber-based voice, video and high-speed data service. Bob oversees the sales, marketing and service innovation teams responsible for delivery of voice, data, and video services in the United States. He is also responsible for Verizon’s recently launched partnership with Redbox, designed to create a national multi-platform product that leverages Verizon's industry-wide relationships with entertainment content providers, its advanced cloud computing technologies and state-of-the-art IP network infrastructure to distribute video on-demand content to its customers. His team also recently launched broadband speeds that are up to 300 Mbps, twice as fast as anything America has ever seen. Mudge has over 27 years of experience in the technology and communications industry and has held a variety of leadership positions including president - Massachusetts, where he was responsible for the company's regulatory, legislative and government affairs, and community relations. He is a graduate of North Adams State College and received an MBA from Suffolk University.


Carl Russo, President & CEO, Calix

Carl is president and CEO of Calix and a member of the board of directors. Carl has over 25 years of experience in the networking and telecommunications industries. Prior to taking an active role with Calix in December, 2002, Carl was a member of the Calix board of directors. Before that, Carl was vice president of optical strategy and group vice president of optical networking for Cisco. Carl joined Cisco in 1999 as a result of the acquisition of Cerent Corporation, where he was president and CEO. Before Cerent, Carl was COO at Xircom (later acquired by Intel), where he was responsible for sales, marketing, development, and manufacturing of all Xircom products. Carl has also held executive management positions at Network Systems Corporation (later acquired by StorageTek) and at AT&T Paradyne. At Network Systems, Carl was the senior vice president and general manager for the Hyperchannel Networking Group, and at AT&T Paradyne he was vice president and general manager of the data networking products division. Carl sits on the board of directors for Vital Network Services, Inc. Carl is an alumnus of Swarthmore College and serves on its board of trustees.


Dave Wittwer, President & CEO, TDS Telecom

Dave Wittwer joined TDS Telecommunications Corp. (TDS®) in 1983. During his tenure with TDS, Dave has held many leadership positions, including executive vice president of Staff Operations, chief financial officer, president of the company's ILEC operations, and chief operating officer. His experience within the company spans many departments and areas at increasing levels of responsibility. In 2006, Dave was appointed president and CEO of TDS Telecommunications Corp. In addition to continuing to transform TDS into a broadband company, Dave's goals include: providing great customer service, delivering quality products and services, promoting a positive work environment, and giving shareholders a good return on their investment. Dave has a Masters from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. He is a Certified Public Accountant. Currently, Dave serves on the Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce board of directors, Edgewood College Business School Advisory board and the UW Whitewater Business and Economics Advisory board.
